Diwali is the festival of lights which is celebrated in various regions across India. The name ‘Deepavali’ literally means an ‘array of lights’. Teachers explained the importance of Diwali, the festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.

From darkness to the light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds, that which brings us closer to divinity; lights illuminate every corner of India during Diwali and the scent of incense sticks hang in the air, mingled with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope. The students talked about the significance of the festival – how good always conquered the evil and also about why and how Diwali is celebrated across India. The teachers prepared a beautiful skit on why we celebrate Diwali.

Our joyous “Festival of Lights” Diwali was celebrated with gaiety and excitement. The sparkling diyas and glittering rangoli added charm and radiance to the school. The children were jumping in excitement and smiling ear to ear when the crackers show was displayed.

It was a memorable day as children’s faces were gleaming with joy and laughter. Learners shared that the lighted lamps-lighting the lives of people, the prayers and pujas creating an atmosphere full of goodness and purity, the festival of Diwali indeed fills the atmosphere with an aura of goodness and a heaven like atmosphere.
